Intercultural Formation Center in Turkana

Turkana County lies in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya, West Pokot in the South, Uganda in the West, South Sudan in the North West and Ethiopia in the North. The climate is semi-arid and vegetation becomes scarcer in the North towards the Sahel Desert. The Turkana people and the surrounding tribes face several severe problems. The people deal with water scarcity, food shortage, access to medical facilities, education and other basic needs.

Among other reasons, these hardships have lead to increased cattle raids and fighting between the neighboring tribes. In turn, the loss of people stirs up resentment.
